I’ve ‘somewhat’ recently became a mum and adjusting to life with a newborn, now toddler was more difficult that I initially thought. Learning how to balance my lifestyle again now that I was a mum has been a process and one that I continue to work on. I believe in the importance on taking care of yourself as well as your family and this is a message I hope to bring through in this blog.
My husband, myself and our husky moved to Canada from Australia just over 4 years ago and have recently moved from Alberta to Ontario. Although we love to travel, especially to Australia, sometimes life gets in the way. We are doing this parenting thing with all of our relatives back in Australia and now due to the move to Ontario we are pretty much starting over again.
In my professional life I have an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science, specializing in Health Promotion. I also have qualifications as a massage therapist, fitness instructor and in sports medicine. These were done now what seems forever ago, but they give you a bit of an idea of my passion. I have a PhD in physical activity and health promotion and for my paid work I am a researcher, specializing in promoting physical activity and health. I love looking at, exploring and analyzing data and researching different topics. Currently, I mostly research ways to promote physical activity using technology such as website, smart phone applications, social media, wearable devices. I’ve published and presented on these topics in peer reviewed journal and at international conferences.
